Course Introductions

At Innovated Solutions we understand the importance of standardization. We also understand the importance of employee training. At Innovated Solutions we have taken Six Sigma which was born at Motorola in the 1970’s and evolved it’s philosophies into our CAD training Tracks.

Six Sigma originated as a set of practices designed to improve manufacturing processes and eliminate defects, but its application was subsequently extended to other types of business processes as well. We feel that engineering drawing processes are just as relevant as manufacturing processes. In Six Sigma, a defect is defined as any process output that does not meet customer specifications, or that could lead to creating an output that does not meet customer specifications. Engineering drawing standards can also be defined the same way and with this CAD Training becomes a key aspect to implementation of processes and standards.

One key innovation of Six Sigma involves the “professionalizing” of quality management functions. At Innovated Solutions we have adapted a professionalization of engineering CAD functions. Formal Six Sigma programs adopt a ranking terminology (similar to some martial arts systems) to define a hierarchy (and career path) that cuts across all business functions.

White Belt

This belt is designated for new users that have basic training in Solid Edge.

These users will have completed all tutorials included in the Solid Edge Software. This belt is awarded to those users prior to moving on to Yellow Belt Training.

(Cost = Free included in software)

Yellow Belt

This belt is designated for new users that have completed Solid Edge White Belt training.

This is a 1 day class that focuses on getting a user familiar with production level models and prints. This class is typically taken within 1 month of installation of Solid Edge.

(Cost = $395/Student)

Note: White Belt and Yellow Belt rankings are designated for new users. These belt designations are designed for users that do not have 3D modeling experience. Users with 3D modeling experience can test out and move right into Green Belt Training.

Green Belt

This belt is designated for users that have completed or tested out of the Solid Edge White & Yellow Belt training.

This class is an instructor lead 3 day class that will help students focus on the potential uses of production level solid modeling. The focus of this course is on the fundamental skills and concepts central to the use of Solid Edge. At course completion students will have learned how to utilize Solid Edge to design production level parametric models of parts, assemblies, detail drawings and document management. They will also be familiar with the Solid Edge user interface, adding features, sketching tools and various modeling techniques.

(Cost = $1195/Student)

Brown Belt

This belt is designated for users that have attended the Solid Edge Fundamentals Training Class.

This class is an instructor lead 3 day class that will help students that are novice to intermediate and create assemblies from solid models. The class will cover the commands available in the Solid Edge Assembly environment along with two assembly methods: Top-Down and Bottom-Up. Users will learn how to assemble and edit parts that already exist, create a part within an assembly, manage large assemblies and verify assembly integrity. Specialized Topics such as exploded views, Family of Assembly, cutaway views, Simple Motion and XpressRoute will also be explained.

(Cost = $1195/Student)

Black Belt

This belt is designated for users that have attended the Solid Edge Advance Assembly Class.

This class is an instructor lead 3 day class. Solid Edge Synchronous class will explore the commands and direct modeling workflows available with the Solid Edge Synchronous Technology command set. At course completion, students will have learned how to implement the Synchronous Technology workflow into the design process. They will be familiar with the Solid Edge user interface, direct editing, sketching tools and various modeling techniques.

(Cost = $1195/Student)

Master Black Belt

This belt is designated for users that have attended the Solid Edge Synchronous class.

This class is a 2 day instructor lead class that teaches students how to build free form surfaces using the Solid Edge Surfacing commands, including Rapid Blue and related functionality. Free form surfaces are surfaces that cannot be constructed using standard solid modeling features. This includes creating B-splines and other developed curves, building surfaces through one or more sets of curves, sweeping profiles along guides, and applying surface transition between faces. Learn the workflows and modeling tools that make you more productive in creating surface models. The instructor will introduce areas of focus for each modeling workflow and then reinforce this topic with well-designed lab exercises Solid Edge.

(Cost = $795/Student)
